The tiny home is beautifully appointed for up to three guests — a loft bedroom with queen bed, a daybed for one, a full kitchen and a deck that catches the evening sun and looks out over paddocks and Lake Taupō.
Fantails dance in the trees during the day, and the clear night skies are perfect for stargazing. You feel away from it all, yet the cafés and shops of town are just down the road.
The space
There is a full kitchen and bathroom with washing machine to ensure the ease and comfort of your own home. There is a loft with a queen bed — the loft is not standing height and not ideal for immobile persons. There is also a day bed that can be made into a very comfortable king single bed; please note that if you require this bed to be made up there is a one-off $50.00 charge.
Guest access
There is a lock box to access the tiny home.
Getting there
Fantail Fields is an easy drive on sealed roads with a 500m gravel driveway. Full directions and gate codes are sent with your booking confirmation.
FAQs
Check-in from 3pm, check-out by 11am. Wifi is available in the tiny home. Linen, towels, tea, coffee and kitchen essentials are all provided.
Rates and extras
From NZ$180 per night, two-night minimum stay. Additional guests beyond two: NZ$50 per person, NZ$60 if you are bringing a dog (small breeds only please) — please let us know when booking. You are welcome to bring larger dogs for no extra charge if they are happy to stay outside.
Booking terms
A 50% deposit secures your booking, with the balance due 7 days before arrival. Free cancellation up to 5 days before your stay.
Other things to note
We have 3 hectares of land that is fully fenced, with water troughs in each paddock. We have five Kaimanawa rescue horses grazing these paddocks along with some friendly sheep. You are welcome to say hello, but please do not go into the paddocks with the horses — three of them are not broken in and are not used to close contact with people.
Eating and drinking
Fantail Fields is self-catering, with a full kitchen and all the pots, pans and crockery you'll need. Bring your own provisions and cook with the view.
If you'd rather not cook, the Kinloch village has a general store with fish & chips, wood-fired pizza, pantry essentials and alcohol, and town — 17 minutes away — has restaurants, cafés and supermarkets.
Things to do
Soak in the outdoor bath, walk or bike along the Kinloch lake front or play a round of golf at the Kinloch golf club. Say hello to our resident Kaimanawa rescue horses and sheep from the fence line — please do not join the horses in the paddocks, as some of them are not broken in.
Further afield there are mountain-bike trails, hiking tracks, ski fields, jet-boating, trout-fishing, hot-pools and the geothermal wonders of Taupō and Rotorua.
